Tig Welder

About This Role

This role involves setting up and welding various metal parts using gas and electric welding equipment to produce components according to specifications and quality standards. The position suits a talented welder/fabricator who is proficient in TIG welding stainless steel.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering prints and/or manufacturing manuals, bills of material, code charts, and/or verbal/written instructions to determine necessary job requirements
• Perform combination welding including MIG and TIG with knowledge of chemical composition of alloy in welding rod for various types of material
• Use a variety of precision measuring and gauging instruments (e.g., tape measure, scale, calipers, micrometers) to accurately set up equipment/machines, inspect and verify conformance of parts to specifications/tolerances
• Clean or degrease work piece using wire brush, portable grinder or repair broken or cracked parts, fill chips or grind off excess weld, slag or splatter, as required
• Weld in any position, including overhead weld lines
• Deburr all necessary parts after fabricating operation to meet required specifications/tolerances
• Operate various machines like bandsaws, grinders, press, Time Saver, belt sanders, etc.
• Strictly follow all job safety requirements, including forklift operation, hoist operation and housekeeping
• Maintain regular attendance and daily punctuality
• Perform additional duties and assignments as directed by management

Requirements

• 3-4 years' experience as a TIG welder
• High school degree or GED; completion of a formal apprenticeship program preferred
• High mental and visual abilities and good math skills, including knowledge of fraction principles
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English and work well with others
• May require lifting of parts and/or equipment up to 50 pounds
• Overtime may be required
