About This Role
This TIG Welder position involves following written instructions, blueprints, and route sheets to join components. The role requires precision in measuring and aligning workpieces, and performing GTAW (TIG) and FCAW (Flux-core) welding on various materials.
Responsibilities
- Follow written instructions with daily route sheets and blueprints of components to be joined-together, possibly at multiple angles
- Measure and align workpieces using straightedges, clamps, tape measures, protractors, and calipers
- Perform GTAW (TIG) and FCAW (Flux-core) welding on a variety of materials, thicknesses, sizes, and orientations
- Inspect welds for accuracy and consistency
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements provided
- Follow established safety and quality policies, procedures, and practices
Requirements
- Prefer 4-5 years of experience working with MIG and TIG welding
- Good mathematical abilities
- Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate precision measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, protractors, micrometers, and other various measuring tools
- Experience with grinders, buffers, and other hand-held tools
- Experience with selecting the correct torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to material thickness
- Must be able to read blueprints and use engineering print layouts
- Experience using weld fixtures and/or jigs for aligning workpieces prior to welding
- Capable of safe operation of gas and non-gas welding equipment in accordance with safety guidelines
- Experience reading and understanding weld symbols on blueprints
- Ability to bend, lift, and push up to 40 lbs.
Nice to have:
- Working knowledge of XYZ and LRA coordinates
Important Details
- Schedule: Monday through Thursday (6:00am – 4:30pm); extended hours may be required to support business needs
- Contract: non-exempt
