Test Automation Specialist – Data Testing
Location: Zurich, Switzerland
Working Arrangement: 3–4 days onsite per week
Contract: 12 months
Rate: CHF 550 per day
Start: ASAP
We are looking for an experienced Test Automation Specialist with strong data testing and automation experience to join a major enterprise data environment in Zurich.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining automated testing frameworks for data platforms and pipelines, helping to improve regression testing, test coverage and the overall reliability of data platform releases.
You will work closely with Data Engineers, QA teams and business stakeholders to understand complex data flows and translate them into robust automated test scenarios.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain test automation frameworks for data platforms and pipelines
- Develop automated tests covering data ingestion, transformation, validation and reconciliation
- Build and execute automated regression test suites
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
- Identify gaps in existing test coverage and develop automated solutions
- Investigate and troubleshoot test failures
- Distinguish between application/data defects and test or environment issues
- Document automation frameworks, test cases and results
- Continuously improve test coverage, execution speed and framework reliability
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in test automation , ideally within data-centric environments
- Proven experience building and maintaining automation frameworks
- Strong understanding of enterprise data platforms, including:
- Data warehouses
- Data lakes
- ETL/ELT pipelines
- Data models
- Data quality and governance
- Experience designing and executing automated test cases
- Strong SQL skills and experience querying large datasets
- Programming/scripting experience in Python, Java or similar
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly around data accuracy and integrity
Desirable Experience
Experience with one or more of the following would be advantageous:
- Snowflake
- Databricks
- BigQuery
- Azure Synapse
- pytest
- dbt / dbt tests
- Great Expectations
- Selenium
- Financial services or large enterprise data environments
- Agile/Scrum delivery environments
