Terminal Manager

About This Role

This Terminal Manager role is responsible for overseeing dock operations, managing staff, and ensuring efficient freight handling within a less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier. The position suits a leader with strong organizational and communication skills who can maintain a safe and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee dock operations at the terminal, including loading and unloading freight, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain terminal staff
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers and dock workers
• Monitor dock production, ensuring facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met and/or exceeded
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards
• Ensure company operational model compliance
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers

Requirements

• Prior LTL management experience is strongly preferred
• Must have strong leadership skills including the ability to hire, coach, counsel, train, and mentor employees
• Desire to surround customer with excellence in service
• High aptitude for technology
• The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented
• Excellent written, listening and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to work 50 hours/week average

• Schedule: Monday-Friday 5:00 AM-3:00 PM, flexible schedule, willingness to work varying shifts as business levels increase
