Terminal Manager

About This Role

This key leadership role is responsible for managing terminal staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, driving operational efficiency, and delivering exceptional customer service throughout the intermodal transportation network. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in intermodal transportation, proven leadership experience, and a commitment to safety, performance, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, mentor, and develop dispatch and terminal personnel
• Foster a positive, high-performing team culture focused on safety, accountability, and customer service
• Manage employee performance through coaching, goal setting, monitoring, and regular performance evaluations
• Build strong working relationships across departments and locations
• Oversee daily terminal operations to ensure efficient freight movement and service execution
• Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance safety, productivity, training, and operational performance
• Develop and maintain systems that support operational excellence and customer satisfaction
• Participate in management and departmental meetings and contribute to strategic planning initiatives
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, and company policies
• Develop and implement audit programs to verify driver proficiency and adherence to operational procedures
• Promote a culture of safety through training, accountability, and continuous monitoring
• Partner with internal departments to ensure seamless communication and service delivery
• Investigate and resolve customer concerns and operational issues promptly
• Analyze transportation costs, customer efficiencies, and operational performance metrics
• Prepare regular reports and recommendations to improve transportation systems and profitability

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of management experience in intermodal transportation or related trucking operations
• Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance requirements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, vendors, owner-operators, terminal staff, and leadership
• Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and time management abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and transportation management software
• Experience with equipment tracking and tracing systems

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business Administration, or a related field
