About This Role
The Terminal Manager oversees daily trucking operations, ensuring efficient workflow and strong communication with drivers, staff, and customers. This role supports overall company objectives in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all terminal operations on a daily basis
- Fully participate in and support company initiatives and operational goals
- Coordinate and manage day-to-day activities of drivers and dispatchers
- Ensure accurate handling of all truckloads and related administrative paperwork
- Act as the primary escalation point for transit disruptions (weather, mechanical, traffic), executing contingency plans to prevent service failures
- Optimize routes to maximize fleet capacity, minimize empty miles, and meet strict delivery timelines
- Monitor and report on key performance metrics including On-Time Delivery (OTD), Empty Miles Ratio, and Fuel Efficiency
- Maintain compliance with DOT regulations, Hours of Service (HOS), and HazMat requirements as needed
- Foster a safe, productive, and team-oriented work environment
Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience in transportation and logistics, with preference for automotive OEM supplier experience
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience in the transportation industry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service (HOS), and HazMat requirements
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) such as McLeod Software
