Telecommunicator, Police

About This Role

This role is responsible for receiving and dispatching 9-1-1 and non-emergency requests for law enforcement responses and patient transport. The Telecommunicator evaluates and prioritizes calls for service, dispatching appropriate personnel and equipment, and maintaining situational awareness for field units.

Responsibilities

• Receive and dispatch 9-1-1 and non-emergency requests for law enforcement responses and/or patient transport
• Evaluate and prioritize calls for service
• Dispatch appropriate personnel and equipment
• Use a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system to monitor and update Campus Police units
• Use the RCS 800 Mhz radio system to monitor several frequencies
• Transmit vital response information to field units
• Process field requests as they are received
• Maintain situational awareness for weather and other incidents in the area
• Keep field units and management appraised of any noteworthy activity
• Maintain and update several reference logs in the Communications Center
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 1 year of telecommunications or security experience

Nice to have:

• Associate's Degree in a related field
