Technician - Wind Turbine Maintenance

About This Role

This role involves performing regular and unscheduled preventive maintenance on wind turbines, ensuring their physical and electrical integrity, and proactively addressing potential equipment failures. The technician will also monitor turbine performance, diagnose and repair issues, and mentor new staff. This position is within the Asset Management Department, which focuses on maximizing the value and performance of the company's energy sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular and unscheduled preventive maintenance of wind turbines
• Check physical and electrical integrity of the turbine, including cable management, current and capacitance readings, and cleaning
• Be proactive in regard to wind turbine maintenance to prevent equipment failure or degradation
• Monitor performance of wind turbines, including power output, temperatures, and cooling fan current draw
• Perform diagnosis and repairs on wind turbines
• Promptly respond and quickly provide a solution in the event of a breakdown
• Replace motors, fans, cables, sensors, control circuit boards, and lighting pumps
• Mentor new staff and teach them theory and practical aspects of the job
• Review and contribute to the creation of instructional documents and procedures
• Participate in technical committees sharing and addressing turbine issues
• Participate in achieving OHS goals and objectives
• Inspect PPE, including harnesses and rescue equipment

Requirements

• Good knowledge of the electrical energy environment and hydraulic engineering
• Confined space and precision skills
• Demonstrate a good sense of innovation and ability to multi-task
