About the role
Are you a seasoned Software Engineer with deep roots in eDiscovery and a passion for building high-impact products from the ground up? We are seeking a Technical Lead for an exclusive opportunity to spearhead a major replatforming effort for a world-class advisory firm .
This isn't your typical "maintenance" role. You will bridge the gap between startup-grade engineering craftsmanship and the rigor of an elite global practice, serving as the primary builder and technical visionary for a suite of proprietary tools.
The Opportunity Our client is evolving their differentiated eDiscovery delivery suite—moving from desktop-based tools to modern, scalable, web-based applications. As the Technical Lead, you will own the technical foundation for tools that generate insights from massive datasets and mobile forensics.
What makes this role unique?
- Greenfield Engineering: You will design the technical foundation from scratch rather than performing incremental feature work on a mature codebase.
- Hands-on Leadership: You will stay close to the code while setting the architectural direction and establishing engineering standards (CI/CD, security, testing).
- Build the Team: Beyond the code, you will hire, mentor, and cultivate a culture of pragmatic engineering excellence.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the Replatforming: Act as the primary decision-maker for architecture, infrastructure, data modeling, and integrations.
- Modernize Analytics: Architect the migration of analytics tools to modern web platforms, including ingestion pipelines for email (Reveal RDM) and mobile data (Cellebrite).
- Evolution of Document Review: Drive the transition of document review tools into standalone applications that integrate seamlessly with Relativity via API.
- Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with Product Managers to scope complexity and ensure technical decisions support both immediate delivery and long-term scaling.
What We’re Looking For Our ideal candidate is a technical heavyweight who understands the high-stakes world of legal technology.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, specifically within legal tech, eDiscovery, or investigations.
- Relativity Custom Development Expert: You know Relativity’s data model, APIs, and workflows inside out.
- Architectural Prowess: Proven ability to lead a greenfield product from scratch, making defining architectural decisions.
- Full-Stack Mastery: Strong command of modern web architecture, cloud infrastructure, and data pipelines.
- Startup Mindset: Comfortable with ambiguity and able to balance rapid speed with long-term technical soundness.
Preferred Experience
- Integrations: Hands-on experience with Reveal RDM or Cellebrite mobile forensic data.
- Migration Success: A track record of leading desktop-to-web migrations or major technical debt reduction initiatives.
- Advanced Analytics: Familiarity with NLP, entity extraction, or clustering applied to unstructured legal data.
