About the role
Purpose/Objective
MEPF Design & Value Engineer will be responsible for reviewing, coordinating, and optimizing MEPF (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Fire Fighting) designs across multiple projects.
The role involves design coordination, value engineering, consultant management, technical reviews, BOQ verification, and support during execution to ensure cost-effective, efficient, and compliant engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities of Role
MEPF Design Coordination - Review MEPF designs from concept stage through detailed engineering and GFC drawings.
- Coordinate with Architectural, Structural, Landscape, Interior, and Infrastructure teams for seamless integration of services.
- Review equipment layouts, service routing, load calculations, and engineering design reports.
- Ensure compliance with project requirements, applicable standards, and statutory regulations.
- Support BIM and multidisciplinary design coordination activities.
Value Engineering & Cost Optimization - Identify opportunities for cost optimization across MEPF systems. - Evaluate alternative materials, technologies, and equipment for improved project efficiency.
- Participate in value engineering workshops and technical reviews.
- Assess lifecycle costs and operational efficiency of engineering systems.
- Recommend solutions to optimize CAPEX and OPEX without compromising quality and functionality.
Consultant Management - Coordinate with MEPF consultants and specialized agencies. - Track consultant deliverables, design schedules, and project milestones.
- Review drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, design calculations, and reports.
- Ensure timely incorporation of comments and closure of design review observations.
- Assist in conducting design review meetings and preparing MOMs.
Technical Review - Review HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, ELV, BMS, ICT, Solar, STP/WTP, and Utility Infrastructure systems. - Verify equipment capacities, redundancy requirements, and system selections.
- Review engineering specifications and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Support preparation and standardization of engineering guidelines and technical standards.
Tendering & Procurement Support - Review technical specifications, BOQs, and tender documents. - Support preparation of RFPs and bid documents.
- Participate in technical evaluations of vendor offers.
- Review material submittals, technical data sheets, and alternative product proposals.
- Assist in vendor prequalification and technical negotiations.
Execution & Site Support - Coordinate with execution teams for resolution of design-related issues. - Review shop drawings, coordinated drawings, and technical submissions.
- Conduct site visits to verify implementation as per approved drawings.
- Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Monitor closure of engineering observations during project execution.
Sustainability & Energy Efficiency - Support implementation of energy-efficient and sustainable engineering designs. - Coordinate green building requirements for IGBC/LEED/GRIHA certification projects.
- Promote water conservation, energy optimization, and renewable energy integration initiatives.
Statutory Compliance - Support preparation and review of documents required for statutory approvals. - Ensure compliance with NBC, IS Codes, NFPA, ECBC, fire safety norms, and local authority requirements.
Coordinate with consultants and authorities for approval-related submissions.
Technical Competencies
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, ELV, ICT, BMS, and Utility Systems.
,• Understanding of NBC, IS Codes, NFPA, ECBC, and sustainability standards,• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, BIM platforms, and MS Office,• Knowledge of BOQs, technical specifications, tendering, and project coordination,• Familiarity with energy-efficient and sustainable design principles
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Qualification - Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering.
- Additional certifications in HVAC, Electrical Systems, BIM, Energy Management, Fire Safety, or Project Management will be preferred.
Experience - 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in MEPF design and engineering. - Experience in residential, commercial, mixed-use, hospitality, industrial, institutional, or township projects.
- Exposure to design review, consultant coordination, and project execution support.
Experience in value engineering and cost optimization initiatives will be preferred
