Teaching Assistant

About This Role

Working as a Teaching Assistant in schools across Scunthorpe, you will make a positive difference in children's education by helping pupils overcome learning challenges, develop new skills, and feel confident in the classroom. This role suits someone patient, approachable, and passionate about helping young people succeed.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher with daily lessons and classroom activities
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils understand their learning
• Encourage pupils to participate, build confidence, and work independently
• Help create a positive, inclusive, and well-organised learning environment
• Assist with preparing classroom materials and educational resources
• Promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ social and emotional development
• Adapt support to meet pupils’ individual learning needs

Requirements

• A genuine interest in children’s learning and development
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A calm, patient, and encouraging attitude
• The ability to follow instructions and adapt to different classroom situations
• A reliable and flexible approach to work
• Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection
• Satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the Update Service

Nice to have:

• Previous experience in a school or childcare setting
• An interest in becoming a teacher or pursuing a long-term career in education
