Teaching Assistant

About This Role

This full-time Teaching Assistant role involves working in a warm, friendly, and therapeutic environment that provides specialist support for children and young people aged 11–18 who may have been exposed to Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE). You will work closely with teaching staff and therapeutic specialists to support the educational, emotional, and social development of students in a small setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group learning support tailored to individual needs
• Assist teachers in delivering a bespoke curriculum within a therapeutic framework
• Help create a safe, stable, and nurturing classroom environment
• Support students in managing emotional barriers to learning and building self-confidence
• Collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team to track progress and wellbeing

Requirements

• Compassionate and patient, with an understanding of trauma-informed practice and the complex emotional needs of young people exposed to CSE
• Resilient and adaptable, able to handle challenging situations with calm professionalism
• Supportive and encouraging, passionate about helping young women rebuild confidence and re-engage with education
• Team player with strong communication skills to work effectively alongside teachers, carers, and therapeutic staff
• Previous experience working in a special educational needs (SEN), therapeutic, or residential care setting is highly desirable
