About This Role
Teaching science to a diverse group of students is the core of this full-time role, fostering critical thinking and collaboration in an inclusive learning environment. The Science Teacher will develop engaging lesson plans and assess student performance to ensure academic growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and promote student engagement
- Teach science concepts across multiple disciplines, including life, physical, earth, and environmental sciences, using a variety of instructional methods and technologies
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and encourages student participation and collaboration
- Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to support their development
- Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects and integrate science with other subject areas
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress, classroom activities, and any concerns
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated with current educational practices
- Foster an appreciation for cultural diversity and global awareness among students
- Maintain an organized and safe classroom environment that promotes respect and responsibility
- Supervise students during non-classroom activities, such as lunch and recess, to ensure their safety and well-being
Requirements
- Bachelor
- Valid teaching certification/license in Science or relevant subject area
- Proven experience in teaching science or related subjects at the middle or high school level, preferred
- Strong knowledge of science curriculum and state educational standards
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a positive learning atmosphere
- Passion for teaching and a genuine interest in the academic and personal growth of students
