About the role
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in the Morrisonville, IL area. Beginning in November and continuing through the end of the school year, this role offers flexibility for both part-time and full-time professionals passionate about making a difference.
You’ll work in an itinerant capacity, providing specialized instruction and advocacy across districts in Bond, Fayette, and Montgomery counties. This is an ideal position for an adaptable educator who enjoys collaborating with families, staff, and students in various educational settings.
Qualifications & Desired Experience
- Valid teaching certification, with appropriate endorsements for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education.
- Demonstrated experience working with K-12 students with hearing loss.
- Strong understanding of communication strategies, including ASL, auditory/oral approaches, and technology supports.
- Ability to develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Collaborative spirit to consult with teachers, administrators, and related service providers.
- Reliable transportation to travel between assigned school sites.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct instruction to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in multiple school settings.
- Assess student needs, monitor progress, and document outcomes.
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to ensure accommodations are in place.
- Engage with families to support student growth and communicate progress.
- Serve as a resource for school teams regarding best practices for access and inclusion.
