EDUCATION:
Bachelors Degree
Any of the following valid Texas Teaching Certificate by the State Board for Educator:
Certification: Generalist EC-6, Generalist 4-8, Self Contained 1-6, Mathematics EC-6, or Mathematics 4-8. ESL Certification required

PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY:
Provide instruction to 5th grade students enrolled in the 6th grade Pre-AP Hyper-Accelerated Math Program. The teacher will travel to 3 campuses throughout the day to teach one section of the Hyper-Accelerated course at each campus. Responsible for creating a classroom environment favorable to the learning and personal growth of every student; establish effective rapport with students; provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth; and to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to become a responsible citizen and function successfully in society.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements and learning styles of students in Pre-AP courses.
2. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles and the 6th grade Pre-AP assigned TEKS.
3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Board Policies and Administrative Regulations.
4. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of the Pre-AP students assigned.
5. Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
6. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives and methods according to District requirements.
7. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
8. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
9. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing (hyper-accelerated checkpoints, benchmarks, and unit assessments)
10. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned
11. Be a positive role model for students and support mission of North East Independent School District.
12. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students.
13. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
14. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
15. Assist in selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
16. Establish and maintain openness of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals and teachers.
17. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members.
18. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
19. Participate in staff development activities related to the Pre-AP course work and to improve job related skills.
20. Successfully complete all professional development training within established timelines as required by the Texas Education Agency and the District.
21. Keep informed of and comply with state, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
22. Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other required documents.
23. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
24. Coordinate tutoring times for students at all three campuses
25. Attend and participate in all meetings pertaining to students (Screening, Appeals, Department, Grade Placement Committee (GPC), etc.).
26. Serve as a resource on campuses regarding Pre-AP courses and the Hyper-Accelerated program.
27. Submit all required paperwork in a timely manner and maintain records for future reference in accordance with federal and state mandates.
28. Travel to campuses daily using personal transportation
29. Travel to conferences as needed.
30. Attend campus/district meetings and trainings regarding the Hyper-Accelerated Math program.
31. Maintain confidentiality of information.
32. Report to work on time every day.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Knowledge of Mathematics
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
• Ability to adjust and be flexible to a multitude of situations as they occur
• Ability to respond to common inquiries from parents, teachers, and principals
• Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
• Ability to concentrate, interpret policy and procedures, reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, memorize, read, coordinate, compile, compute, instruct, and maintain emotional control
• Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid Texas Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District

The employee is occasionally required to drive personal vehicle in the performance if assigned tasks.
