About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Teacher Aide (Secondary) to join our Technologies team and support quality learning experiences.

The role provides practical support to teachers and students across Industrial Technologies and general Technologies subject areas. The Teacher Aide will assist with preparing and delivering practical activities, as well as the safe organisation, use and maintenance of equipment, resources and learning spaces.

The successful application reports to the nominated delegate being the Head of Department - Technologies.

This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.79FTE), 60 hours per fortnight.

This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions to this appointment will not exceed 12 months.

Your opportunity:

As the Teacher Aide, your responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Assist teachers with the preparation, organisation and delivery of technologies learning activities, including woodwork, metalwork, engineering and design.
  • Prepare, organise, distribute and pack away equipment, materials and other resources required for practical lessons.
  • Assist with ensuring required materials and resources are available, including supporting the preparation, collection and purchasing of materials as required.
  • Work with high and extreme risk equipment and machinery both during preparation of materials and resources and other relevant tasks. Note: assist students one on one whilst using machinery as directed by the teacher
  • Assist with the safe use, cleaning, storage and basic care of Technologies equipment and facilities.
  • Assist with stocktaking and maintaining appropriate levels of equipment, ingredients and other classroom resources.
  • Support teachers and students during practical learning activities, under the direction of the teacher.
  • Support appropriate workplace health and safety practices within practical learning environments.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and general clerical tasks, including photocopying, collation, resource preparation, WHS documentation and general administrative support.
  • Provide individual and small-group support to students, including students requiring additional support, as directed by the teacher.
  • Assist with class rolls and the supervision of students and learning activities as required.
  • Maintain appropriate anecdotal records and provide relevant observations to teachers to support student learning and development.
  • Assist with the care and laundering of all PPE materials.
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively as a member of the Technologies team.
  • Contribute to the welfare, health and safety of students, including first aid where appropriately trained and required.
  • Maintain confidentiality, tact, reliability and professionalism when working with students, staff and families.
  • Undertake excursions and other activities, and other suitable duties consistent with the role as directed by the supervisor.
