Tax Preparer

About This Role

This fully remote, nationwide seasonal contract role offers flexibility and the opportunity to work independently. As a Tax Preparer, you will be responsible for preparing accurate tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and providing excellent service to clients. This position is performance-based, with compensation tied to your productivity, and does not guarantee a fixed income or client volume.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate federal and state tax returns in accordance with current tax laws and regulations
• Protect client data by maintaining confidentiality and following data security protocols
• Follow due diligence procedures to ensure the accuracy and completeness of each return
• Complete required training to stay updated on tax law changes and company policies
• Manage deadlines effectively to ensure timely submission of all tax filings
• Build or serve a client base by providing professional tax preparation services remotely
• Maintain compliance with all applicable industry standards and ethical guidelines

Requirements

• Prior experience in tax preparation is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided
• Active PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) or a plan to qualify for one is required before starting
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for accuracy in preparing returns
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, managing your own schedule and workload
• Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with clients as needed
