About This Role
This role involves preparing accurate and timely tax returns for individuals, small businesses, and corporations. The Tax Preparer will use their expertise in financial concepts, accounting software, and tax regulations to ensure clients receive maximum benefits while remaining compliant with current laws. This position offers an opportunity to develop skills in public accounting while providing exceptional customer service and support.
Responsibilities
- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or other relevant tools
- Analyze financial documents, including income statements, balance sheets, and bookkeeping records to gather necessary data for tax filings
- Assist clients with tax planning strategies to optimize financial outcomes and minimize liabilities
- Stay updated on current tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and accurate filings
- Communicate effectively with clients to gather information, explain tax positions, and answer questions about their returns
- Conduct analysis of financial data to identify potential deductions, credits, and other savings opportunities
- Support marketing efforts by promoting tax services to existing clients and prospects
Requirements
- Proven experience in tax preparation, public accounting, or related financial roles with a strong understanding of tax regulations and procedures
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks and Sage; familiarity with other financial or tax software is a plus
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial concepts, and bookkeeping practices
- Excellent analysis skills combined with strong math abilities for accurate calculations and data interpretation
- Ability to perform 10 key typing efficiently for data entry tasks
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and professionally
- Technical accounting knowledge including corporate accounting and bookkeeping practices
