Tax Preparer

About This Role

The Tax Preparer is a detail-oriented and proactive individual who prepares accurate and compliant tax returns for individual and small business clients. This role helps clients navigate complex tax codes, maximize deductions, and ensure timely filing. Your skills in accounting software and data entry will directly contribute to client satisfaction and financial success in an energetic environment.

Responsibilities

• Gather and organize financial documents, including income statements, expense reports, and receipts to ensure complete data collection
• Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns using advanced accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft
• Review client financial information for accuracy and compliance with current tax laws and regulations
• Identify potential deductions and credits to optimize client refunds or reduce liabilities
• Maintain detailed records of all tax filings, correspondence, and client interactions for future reference
• Assist clients with questions regarding their tax documents and provide guidance on tax-related matters
• Stay updated on changes in tax legislation to ensure all filings meet the latest legal requirements

Requirements

• Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, and other relevant platforms
• Experience with data entry and managing large volumes of financial information efficiently
• Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and financial services industry standards
• Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail to ensure error-free filings
• Ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to clients of varying backgrounds
• Prior experience in a fast-paced environment that requires multitasking and meeting deadlines

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with Workday or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
