Tax Manager; Tax Engine, Tax

About This Role

The Tax Manager will join Amazon's Global Tax Calculation Services Program, a team focused on pioneering global tax calculation solutions for Amazon and thousands of merchants. This role primarily involves configuring tax engines through Amazon's software systems, with potential for exposure to other tax projects.

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain Amazon's transaction tax calculation software
• Research transaction tax laws to create and maintain tax rules (e.g., product taxability) within the transaction tax calculation software
• Participate in projects throughout their lifecycle, from design through delivery, with an emphasis on testing to ensure projects conform to business requirements and rules
• Communicate with sellers, customers, and Customer Service regarding the calculation of transaction taxes
• Provide subject matter expertise to various business and IT organizations including Business Development, Marketing, Legal, Customer Service, and various product groups

Requirements

• 4+ years of tax, finance, or a related analytical field experience
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications

Nice to have:

• 3+ years of experience maintaining and operating transaction tax calculation software (e.g., Vertex)
• Experience researching indirect tax issues, including taxability of products and services
• Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
