Tax Manager - High-Net-Worth Individuals & Tax Planning

About This Role

This advisory-focused Tax Manager opportunity is for an experienced CPA who enjoys solving complex tax problems, developing thoughtful planning strategies, and building lasting relationships with high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners. Your technical expertise will directly inform client decisions, working with complex individual tax situations and identifying planning opportunities throughout the year. You will collaborate with wealth management and financial advisory professionals to help clients make informed decisions about their financial future.

Responsibilities

• Manage relationships with high-net-worth individuals and families, serving as a trusted point of contact for tax questions, planning discussions, and ongoing needs
• Review complex federal and state individual income tax returns, with an emphasis on accuracy, technical judgment, and identifying opportunities that may otherwise be overlooked
• Develop and communicate tax strategies throughout the year rather than focusing exclusively on compliance and filing deadlines
• Work alongside wealth management and financial advisory professionals to integrate tax considerations into broader financial planning strategies
• Research complex tax issues, interpret changes in tax law, and apply technical knowledge to real-world client situations
• Review work prepared by other professionals, ensure technical accuracy and completeness, and provide guidance when needed
• Assist with business, trust, estate, and other related tax filings as needed
• Mentor junior team members, share technical knowledge, and contribute to the development of the broader team
• Take ownership of communication, follow-up, deadlines, and deliverables while helping improve internal processes and service quality

Requirements

• Active CPA license
• Approximately 7+ years of relevant tax experience
• Significant experience preparing and/or reviewing complex Form 1040 returns
• Strong experience working with high-net-worth individuals and families
• Demonstrated experience with tax planning and advisory services, not solely tax compliance
• Experience reviewing tax returns and providing technical guidance to other professionals
• Strong understanding of individual and closely held business taxation
• Excellent client communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to explain complex tax concepts in clear, practical business language
• Strong judgment, attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
• Comfort managing multiple client relationships, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced, relationship-driven environment

• Experience with Trust and estate tax returns (Form 1041)
• Experience with Gift tax returns (Form 709)
• Experience with Partnership returns (Form 1065)
• Experience with S-Corporation returns (Form 1120-S)
• Experience with Foreign asset reporting, including FBAR and Form 8938
• Experience with family office or private client services
• Experience with wealth management or financial advisory environments
• Experience with team leadership, mentoring, or staff management
