Tax Manager (Family Office) - King of Prussia, PA
Firm: An independent wealth management and financial advisory firm founded nearly 30 years ago that provides investment management, financial planning, tax strategy, and family office services for individuals, families, businesses, nonprofits, and family offices.
Role: The Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day office operations, managing and coordinating the tax affairs of a high-net-worth family and its related entities, investments, trusts, partnerships, and other structures. This role requires a strong understanding of individual, partnership, trust, estate, and investment taxation, as well as the ability to work closely with external tax advisors, attorneys, investment professionals, and other members of the family office.
Working Situation: Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days WFH
Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate junior team members, fostering professional development, technical expertise, and a high standard of performance.
- Oversee daily branch operations to drive efficiency, profitability, client service, and financial performance.
- Manage the preparation, review, and timely filing of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships, LLCs, foundations, and other family-owned entities.
- Review tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with the family’s investment and entity structures.
- Analyze the tax implications of investment transactions, liquidity events, capital gains, charitable giving, estate planning, and other significant transactions.
- Review K-1s, 1099s, tax statements, and other tax reporting documents from investment managers, partnerships, custodians, and other providers.
- Maintain and reconcile tax basis, capital accounts, and other tax-related investment information.
- Serve as the primary internal point of contact for tax matters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
- CPA or EA strongly preferred.
- 4+ years of progressive tax experience, preferably with experience serving high-net-worth individuals, family offices, private equity principals, entrepreneurs, or closely held businesses.
- 2+ years of management experience.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state taxation.
- Experience with individual, partnership, trust, estate, and/or investment-related taxation.
- Experience reviewing complex tax returns and working with external tax advisors.
Compensation/Benefits:
- Base Salary: $100-125k+, commensurate with experience.
- Sales incentives - Starting at 10%
- Additional Compensation: Annual performance-based bonus.
