Tax Analyst

About This Role

The Tax Analyst supports the accounting and tax services team by preparing, reviewing, and filing tax returns for individuals and businesses, as well as conducting tax research and analyzing financial information. This role contributes to tax compliance and planning activities under the guidance of senior tax professionals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assist with federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and other entities
• Review financial records, income statements, expense reports, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness
• Perform tax research and analyze applicable tax laws, regulations, and guidelines
• Assist with quarterly and annual tax filings and estimated tax calculations
• Identify potential tax deductions, credits, and compliance issues
• Reconcile tax-related accounts and investigate discrepancies
• Prepare workpapers, schedules, and supporting documentation for tax returns
• Respond to client questions and requests for tax-related information
• Assist senior accountants and tax managers with tax planning and special projects
• Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical tax files
• Stay informed about changes in federal, state, and local tax regulations
• Maintain confidentiality of client financial and tax information

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
• 1–3 years of experience in tax, accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field preferred; entry-level candidates may be considered
• Knowledge of basic federal and state tax principles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
• Experience with tax software such as ProSeries
