Tax Analyst

About This Role

This Tax Analyst position is responsible for preparing tax-related projects and returns for U.S. federal, state, local, and international tax matters. The role involves interacting with the tax team, corporate accounting group, financial analysis, local controllers, and external service providers.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and organize data for external advisors for Partnership and C corporation tax return preparation, including various federal, state, and international related data
• Proactively work with the corporate accounting group and local controllers to obtain data required for tax returns
• Assist with preparation of tax depreciation calculations
• Assist with quarterly federal and state estimates and distributions
• Work collaboratively with external consultants regarding Real Estate and Personal Property Tax matters
• Assist with property tax payments, maintain the property tax calendar, and analyze changes in property tax payments from year to year
• Coordinate information needed for filings, payments, notices, and signatures
• Identify, develop, and implement process improvements
• Assist with preparing schedules/analysis of various tax accounts and transactions to support financial analysis, accounting, and legal operations teams
• Assist with various tax-related projects, including maintaining tax calendars, reporting for various tax calculations/incentives, organizing information within SharePoint, assisting with state registrations, withdrawals, annual reports, and supporting federal and state income tax audits (including gathering supporting information and documentation)
• Monitor and help manage the Tax Department’s physical mail and shared mailbox, including scanning, organizing, routing, and tracking correspondence
• Identify notices, filing deadlines, payment requests, and other time-sensitive items
• Follow up with appropriate team members to support timely resolution
• Own assigned projects/tasks, including communication of project status with appropriate documentation and regular follow-up until projects are complete

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 1-2 years of experience with knowledge in income tax matters
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills

Nice to have:

• Master’s in Taxation (MST), CPA or J.D.
• Experience with tax planning, research, accounting for income taxes, partnership taxation, and international tax compliance
• Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling)
