Tax Accountant

About This Role

Working closely with the Principal and Senior Tax Accountant, the Tax Accountant provides tax preparation and related services to individual and business clients. This role suits an accounting professional who enjoys client interaction, wants to develop their tax knowledge, and is looking for a position with room to grow.

Responsibilities

• Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals and businesses
• Prepare other tax filings and related work as needed
• Research tax questions and assist with client inquiries under the direction of the Principal and Senior Tax Accountant
• Communicate with clients by phone and email and follow up as needed
• Communicate project status and questions with the Principal, Senior Tax Accountant, and other team members
• Assist with tax projects and other tasks necessary to meet client deadlines
• Build strong, professional relationships with clients
• Maintain accurate, organized, and timely work
• Take initiative to identify tasks that need to be completed and look for ways to support the team, particularly during busy periods

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
• Strong interest in developing a career in tax and public accounting
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Customer-service mindset and professional demeanor
• Ability to accurately prepare tax filings
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting/tax software
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities

Important Details

• Schedule: typical office hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; additional hours may be necessary during tax season, including occasional evenings and weekends
