About This Role
This Systems Engineer role focuses on employment engineering within the Sea-Launched Cruise Missile–Nuclear (SLCM-N) Program, supporting the development, integration, analysis, and testing of advanced weapon-system capabilities. The position involves optimizing weapon-system employment, analyzing targeting data, and translating USSTRATCOM/Combatant Command requirements into platform capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Apply detailed knowledge of the SLCM-N Weapon System and subsystem interactions to evaluate the operational impact of new system design choices
- Assess impacts to operational users, including USSTRATCOM, Combatant Commanders (CCDRs), Strategic Weapons Facilities (SWFs), the operational fleet, and the NC2 community
- Perform analysis of targeting data, mission-planning capabilities, system performance, and emerging threats
- Support analysis, modeling, and simulation activities related to threat mitigation, survivability, weapon effectiveness, and platform performance
- Participate in trade studies and design optimization activities to ensure physical airframe and software architectures appropriately balance survivability, range, and lethality
- Support requirements definition, schedule alignment, and L0/L1 requirements tracing
- Support development and maintenance of programmatic artifacts, including the Lifecycle Mission Data Plan (LMDP) and Weapons Integration and Systems Engineering (WISE) deliverables
- Collaborate closely with the Lead/Product Owner and Technical Project Lead (TPL) to ensure engineering activities remain aligned with customer and program priorities
- Support software requirements definition, engineering analysis, specification development, and other systems/software engineering activities
- Perform other position-related duties as assigned or requested
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline; or five (5) years of demonstrated and established knowledge and subject-matter testing expertise in lieu of the degree
- Five (5) years of experience supporting nuclear operations, nuclear command and control principles, strategic weapons, nuclear planning, and national-level command and control programs
- Five (5) years of software engineering experience supporting a real-time, software-intensive Weapon System, Command System, or Intelligence System, including software requirements definition activities
- Three (3) years of specialized experience in areas including: Software engineering and requirements analysis; Design tradeoff studies; Structured requirements-analysis methodologies for real-time, software-intensive weapon systems; Weapon-system specification development using tools such as DOORS (Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System); Software requirements definition, engineering analysis, and/or software specification development
