Swiss CNC Turning Machinist – Medical Implants

Join Avalign Integrated Medical in Mentor, OH and spend your 1st or 3rd shift turning complex prints into flawless parts on Star CNC Swiss lathes. In this role, you’ll also operate conventional, special-purpose, and CNC machines and machining centers to fabricate components to exact customer specifications.

A day in your role

You arrive, review setup sheets and blueprints, and prepare your work center. You independently set up your Star CNC Swiss lathe, select tooling, and run a first piece. With micrometers, calipers, and an optical comparator, you verify dimensions and surface features, then fine-tune offsets and make tool changes to lock in tight tolerances. You document first-piece inspection results, capture maintenance notes, and keep work orders up to date. Throughout the run, you follow strict quality protocols—including ID & traceability—while partnering with engineering and quality to optimize the process. Routine and daily PM keeps your machine reliable, and 5S standards keep your area organized and safe.

What you’ll do

• Independently set up, operate, and troubleshoot Star CNC Swiss machines to produce precision medical implants.
• Adjust machine offsets, perform tool changes, and make fine adjustments to consistently hold tight tolerances.
• Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and work instructions to meet all customer requirements.
• Use precision measuring tools—micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators—to inspect machined parts.
• Complete routine and daily preventative maintenance (P.M.) on assigned machines.
• Record production activity, including first-piece inspection logs, maintenance records, and work orders.
• Adhere to rigorous quality procedures, including ID & traceability controls.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve machining processes.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area in line with 5S principles.

What you’ll bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification is a plus.
• At least 3 years of experience setting up and operating CNC lathes.
• At least 1 year of blueprint reading experience.
• At least 1 year working with GD&T and measuring tolerances using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
