About This Role
This year-round, part-time instructor role focuses on teaching water safety and proper swim techniques to children, based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum. After each lesson, you will communicate progress with parents and caregivers. Leadership opportunities are available within the first 3-6 months, making it suitable for individuals seeking career growth or a flexible second job.
Responsibilities
- Provide swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum
- Educate students on safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents
- Evaluate students’ progress and complete required paperwork in a timely manner
- Interact with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students’ swim skills
- Use problem-solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter
- Maintain and ensure proper storage of all pool equipment
- Place and remove lane lines and class materials before/after lessons
- Perform light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, trash removal on occasion
- Attend occasional mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours
- Fulfill other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your employer
Requirements
- Ability to work with children
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to complete lifeguard, CPR & AED certification class as part of training and work scheduled shifts as a lifeguard
- Ability to perform job functions in a warm, humid setting and chlorinated pool (lifting, standing for extended periods of time, demonstrating curriculum skills and performing in-water rescues if necessary)
