Surgical Technologist

About This Role

This surgical technologist role involves assisting with minimally invasive interventional radiology procedures in an outpatient setting. The position is for a skilled scrub tech who can prepare procedure rooms, maintain a sterile environment, and support physicians during surgeries.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and procedure rooms for radiology procedures
• Review patient orders to determine necessary materials and set up/clean procedure rooms
• Assist with patient prep, transfers, and positioning
• Input patient data into the C-Arm and assist physicians during interventional procedures, maintaining sterile technique
• Comply with HIPAA, draw up and label IV medications, and process/archive x-ray images
• Manage equipment maintenance, supply inventory, and hazardous waste disposal
• Serve as Radiation Safety Officer and assist with accreditation surveys
• Ensure effective communication with physicians
• Assist with patient billing, verifying procedure charges, CPT, and ICD9 codes

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Valid BLS Certification
• 2 years of surgical technologist / scrub tech experience
• Proven working experience as a surgical technologist
• Proficient in maintaining a sterile field
• Experienced in scrubbing in for surgical procedures
• Knowledge of HIPAA and other healthcare regulations
• Working knowledge of interventional equipment

Nice to have:

• ARRT // CST Certification

Important Details

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, day shift, no call, no weekends, no nights

Working Conditions

• Employees may be exposed to infectious diseases
• Must lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
• Assist in patient transfers up to 400 pounds
• Standing in a protective apron for 60-90 minutes is required
