Surgical Technologist

About This Role

This surgical technologist position involves identifying and obtaining the necessary instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures, as well as performing scrub responsibilities. The role requires a focus on patient safety and effective communication with patients across all age groups.

Responsibilities

• Identify and obtain required surgical instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures based on physician requests and patient needs
• Exchange drug trays as needed under the direction of licensed medical staff
• Inspect, properly care for, and handle surgical instrumentation and equipment appropriately
• Perform scrub responsibilities according to physician's preference and hospital policies and procedures
• Anticipate and be attentive to the surgeon's needs for instruments, ligatures, sponges, irrigation, etc. during the surgical procedure
• Demonstrate the skills necessary to provide a safe environment and communicate effectively with all age groups of patients, from pediatric through geriatric

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved surgical technology program
• Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association
• Previous experience in surgery or on-the-job experience
