Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to join a busy Surgical Services team within an acute care hospital setting. The Surgical Tech will play a critical role in supporting surgical procedures by preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile technique, managing surgical instruments, and assisting the surgical team to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain operating rooms for surgical procedures.
- Ensure proper sterilization and availability of surgical instruments and supplies.
- Assist surgeons, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel during procedures.
- Maintain sterile fields and adhere to infection control standards.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team throughout procedures.
- Perform instrument counts and assist with specimen handling according to facility protocols.
- Prepare surgical equipment and verify functionality prior to procedures.
- Support patient safety initiatives and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
- Document and communicate procedural information as required.
Requirements
Experience
- Recent Surgical Technologist experience in an acute care hospital setting required.
- Experience supporting multiple surgical specialties preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing, instrumentation, and surgical procedures.
Certifications
- BLS Certification required.
Skills & Qualifications
- Expertise in sterile technique and surgical asepsis.
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Ability to anticipate surgeon and procedural needs.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced operating room environment.
