Supply Technician, GS-2005-05

Duties

The position serves as a Supply Technician and serves as support agent responsible for inventory control, shipping and receiving, item requisition for the industrial facility, and all aspects of the local micro purchases.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

• Performing duties concerned with the logistics of a Coast Guard facility, including shipping of widely varied items in terms of size weight and content, emergency purchases of items needed to repair Coast Guard assets, inventory control over a large variety of tools and supplies, and the management of an internal requisition system to ensure stock rotation.
• Ensuring that all orders received are properly checked and documented with documentation (receipts) of each order placed in the Industrial Service Order (ISO) file for which it was ordered.
• Coordinating with IOD equipment manager for the disposition of all surveyed equipment and documentation of new equipment prior to placing that equipment in service.
• Performing the purchasing functions for purchase under $3000 and of an emergent nature using the government purchase card.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications

GS-5: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level (in the Federal sector). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line work. Examples of specialized experience include: Coordinating with equipment manager for the disposition of all surveyed equipement and documentation of new equipment prior to placing that equipment in service. Perform all logistic duties for the unit i.e. receiving items that were ordered, or reconciling inventory items.

OR at least one of the following if using education to qualify at this grade level:

(A) Successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite is creditable;

OR

(B) A combination of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in or related to the work of this position AND only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. Experience and education combinations are computed by first determining the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the total of qualifying education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at that grade level.
