DUTIES: As a Supply Technician, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Performs technical research, when supplies are not readily available to determine on the basis of item specification and usage, available stock or if items are available through means of cannibalization unserviceable equipment or assembly of available parts
- Reviews and processes customer requests for various shipments of hazardous temperature sensitive radioactive fragile oversized and heavy haul
- Responsible for the receipt, inspection, storage, safeguarding and handling of hazardous property in an independently operated environment
- Receives packs and repacks a variety of hazardous and non-hazardous items
- Uses automated systems to assure that supplies are available
- Performs material handling and packing duties
Physical Demands: Incumbent is routinely handling hazardous property. Work requires standing on hard surfaces maintaining balance for extended periods of time. Requires bending, stooping, reaching and twisting in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds. May lift greater weights with assistance. Incumbent must be able to shift/relocate other heavy materials using appropriate material handling equipment.
Work Environment: Work is done inside and outside for long duration through breaks, etc., as necessary to complete immediate tasks. Inside work is performed in a warehouse. Outside work is subject to inclement weather. Discomfort is experienced while wearing protective clothing, respirators, goggles, or face masks. Worker may be exposed to hazardous vapors, liquids, powders and solids and the possibility of cuts and bruises. May be subject to hazards of working close to moving equipment, for example, forklifts, truck and conveyor lines.
Qualifications
To qualify for a Supply Technician your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
- Prepares inventory related cost estimates for dropping of set assemblies, disassemblies and cannibalizations and material upgrades
- Reviews and processes customer requests for various shipments of hazardous temperature sensitive radioactive fragile oversized and heavy haul
B. Education: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
