About the role

Duties

Supervise staff collecting fees in accordance with federal regulations. Prepare employees performance standards, and developing IDP's. Resolving complaints, grievances, counseling employees on conduct or performance. Follows established accountability guidelines for handing government funds. Safeguards funds collected. Manages the fee program in accordance all policies and regulations. Operate fee collection computer software programs such as PCC-OTC, TGA Network, or experience using software programs for the reconciliation and remittance of funds. Operate computer software programs such as work processing, spreadsheet or data base.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, lifting of moderately heavy items and sedentary work is required. Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to high volume of personal contacts and the responsibility of dealing with large amounts of money.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is often performed in small, outdoor structures with open windows which results in exposure to extremes of temperature, rain, snow, wind, and direct sunlight. Park areas may be geographically located in areas of high elevation, rugged terrain, or dense populations. High levels of vehicle noise and emissions may exist during heavy visitation periods. Duties may be performed alone in isolated locations.

AREA INFORMATION:  Petrified Forest National Park is located in northeastern Arizona, bisected by U.S. Interstate 40, approximately 26 miles east of Holbrook, Arizona. The park has a concession operation that includes curio shop, restaurant and gas station. Beyond this, other services are not available in the park; some shopping opportunities in Holbrook.  Greater shopping opportunities in Flagstaff, AZ (110 miles west) or Gallup, NM (70 miles east). Major shopping centers exist in the metropolitan Phoenix, AZ (225 miles) and Albuquerque, NM (210) miles) areas. Year-around recreational opportunities abound within a short commuting distance. The park is situated on a high plateau with an elevation averaging 5,600 feet, with a semi-arid climate. Temperatures range from 0 in winter to 100 in the summer. Precipitation averages 9 inches per year. A junior college (Northland Pioneer College) campus in Holbrook offers classes and workshops for adult education/enrichment with both day and night classes.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement, Wednesday, June 07, 2017. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sectors.
QUALIFICATIONS: . To be eligible for this position, you must possess the qualifying specialized experience and/or education as well as selective factors as described in the occupational/assessment questionnaire and as outlined below.
To qualify for this position at the GS-06 level you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform successfully the duties of a Supervisory Visitor Use Assistant (Fee Collection).  Specialized experience includes: providing resource orientation, disseminating information, collecting and accounting for fees, leading others involved in fee collection or visitor orientation programs, and working with technology and software used in revenue and fee management.
Time-in-Grade Requirements: Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. This requires applicants who have held a GS position at any time within the past 52 weeks to have served at least 52 weeks at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for this occupation.
