As a SUPERVISORY OPERATIONS SUPPORT SPECIALIST (SECURITY, SAFETY AND HEALTH), you will:
- Supervise a group of Operations Support Specialists who assess the productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of program operations or analyze and resolve problems in the effectiveness and efficiency of administrative support and staff activities.
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert in a variety of areas related to Security, Occupational Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation, Telework Program, Emergency Management, Facility Security, Equal Employment Opportunity Program, customer relations, and management analysis.
- Plan the work to be accomplished by your subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of the work; assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees; evaluate work performance of subordinates; and counsel or instruct employees on both work and administrative matters.
- Interview candidates for positions; recommend appointment, promotion or reassignment; hear and resolve complaints from employees; effect minor disciplinary measures; promote affirmative action/equal employment opportunity programs; identify developmental training needs of employees, providing and arranging for needed development and training; find ways to improve productivity or increase the quality of the work directed; and/or develop performance standards.
- Manage the Emergency Notification System (ENS); plan and provide training for the program offices Emergency Preparedness Program; oversee the program office's Occupational Health and Safety Programs, Physical Security Program, and National Security Information (NSI) Program; manage the First AID with AED and CPR Programs.
Qualifications
GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level that equipped you with the skills needed to perform the job duties, such as:
- Representing the office when meeting with vendors and personnel from administrative support organizations.
- Collaborating with various organizational leadership on facility/security matters such as processes, software and hardware to address the safety and security needs of the building.
- Analyzing study finding/reports and recommend changes to existing practices and policies to address administrative issues.
- Serving as the subject matter expert to answer technical facility/security questions from both coworkers and leadership.
