Supervisory IT Program Manager (Portfolio Director)

About This Role

This role oversees portfolio and program management, supervising staff and resources for the planning, execution, and evaluation of major IT initiatives within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information and Technology (OIT), Product Delivery Service (PDS). This position advises leadership on IT planning, budgeting, acquisition, and delivery; manages the development and sustainment of systems and architectures; and oversees computing and software services.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the development of detailed program/project plans, tasks, and schedules, and ensure identification of required milestone dates through coordination with IT Project Managers and stakeholders, to ensure proper sequencing of events, work efforts, and resources to accomplish objectives
• Keep all parties informed of project status, changes in requirements, changes in resources, and impacts on meeting established project timelines, tasks, milestones, and objectives
• Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure appropriate interests are represented, functional requirements are included in analyses and designs, implement Government and industry best practices and tools within the assigned program areas, business practices are addressed and/or redesigned, and stakeholder feedback is incorporated
• Elicit customer support in the development of acquisitions, scope, and finalizing programs/project schedules while reducing product risk
