Duties
As a Supervisory Information Technology Specialist (Network), GS-2210-13 you will perform the following duties:
- Act as principle advisor on the development, planning, oversight, administration, management, and implementation of all networking issues throughout the area of responsibility.
- Manages the unclassified and classified local area networks, wide area network, attached circuits, supporting network infrastructure, telecommunications switch and remote switch sites.
- Provide direction, overall planning framework and guidance to subordinates in order to accomplish task requirements.
- Formulate short and long-term goals across the branch to achieve significant results in support of organizational goals.
- Plan and direct the work of branch employees.
- Appraises branch operations for effectiveness, quality, or performance and progress towards meeting assigned tasks and objectives.
- Develop resource requirements to achieve Command, Control, Communications, Computer and Information Management service level standards and submit a fiscal year budget.
- Coordinate the design, implementation and integration of network and switching infrastructures.
- Implement networking plan for all automated data processing equipment and systems to maximize connectivity throughout Fort Bliss to include tenant units.
- Serve as the contracting officer's representative for maintenance contracts or assists assigned contracting officers representative in their duties.

Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience in the maintenance of network infrastructure, network servers, and remote processing. Coordinate resources for information management, manage developments in network systems and data processing devices. Provide advice on network system capabilities AND I possess experience in Information Technology on each of the following competencies: Attention to Detail - Conscientious and attends to detail when overseeing the effective operation of the local area network and telecommunication infrastructure. Customer Service - Plan and oversees technical assistance in response to customer reported problems on networks and communication systems. Oral Communication - Provide technical advice on information-transmission systems support of networks. Problem Solving - Ability to respond to complex issues and assisting staff on day to day Information Technology customer support problems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
- Knowledge of communications technologies, standards and protocols
- Knowledge of network concepts, theories, techniques, and methods
- Skill overseeing implementation of network systems
- Ability to supervise
- Ability to communicate orally
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).
