We Are Seeking Qualified Applicants For The Position: Supervisor, Laboratory

Located: Plaquemines

Summary We are seeking a Supervisor, Laboratory to join our team at our Plaquemines LNG Facility located in Point Celeste, LA. Successful candidate may be required to train and collaborate with Laboratory staff, and Management at any of the other Venture Global facilities for a duration of 3-6 months.

Position Overview: This role reports to the Enterprise Manager, Laboratories and will be responsible for ensuring smooth and seamless operations of the Laboratory, fulfilling coverage needs for a 24/7 operations. The Laboratory supervisor responsibilities also include establishing procedures and workflow instructions for routine scheduled sampling, ad-hoc sampling, testing, analysis, and reporting with in an established quality control framework, and standards set forth by Venture Global. The incumbent shall establish the laboratory management procedure to fulfill coverage needs, employ Laboratory Quality Control Manual and establish Laboratory service contracts.

The incumbent shall serve as a subject matter expert on LNG related lab testing, hydrocarbon test methods and analysis, ad-hoc and adapted testing methods for a variety of samples and conditions. The incumbent shall also have hands on experience with ASTM, GPA, UOP, ISO test methods.

The incumbent must possess supervisory experience, and management of a technical team working in a high throughput 24/7 operations. The successful candidate must prove ability to execute work with various stakeholders, display leadership impact, output stellar safety record to supervise a robust, and technically adequate team.

This Role Will Be Responsible For Overseeing The Analysis Of Samples For a Typical LNG Plant, Analysis Of Which Shall Include, But Not Necessarily Be Limited To:

  • Process Gas composition, and impurities testing and analyses
  • LNG composition (before & after treatment)
  • Refrigerant composition
  • LPG’s and Liquids purity testing and analyses
  • Dewpoint (Natural Gas & other gases)
  • Utility Water (produced, waste, cooling)
  • Testing of other plant utilities
  • Amine solution analyses
  • Environment was streams analyses
  • Natural Gas Liquids (NGL, condensate)
  • Oil (condition-viscosity, particles, ferrographic)
  • Solid sample testing and analyses

Must show highly familiarity with sampling procedures and associated laboratory equipment to perform analyses of various testing expected in an LNG plant. Successful candidate shall have experience in hydrocarbon processing facilities, and oil & gas industry standard test methods (ISO, GPA, ASTM, UOP etc.) and their applicability within the LNG industry. As well as supervise and manage commissioning of laboratory testing equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day laboratory oversight support to the operations laboratory to ensure laboratory tasks & requests are carried out timely with high degree of accuracy and efficiency
  • Supervise a rotating shift staff of Laboratory Technicians and Senior Technicians who will operate laboratory equipment to perform required analysis in an efficient and timely manner
  • Lead by example to promote a united, team centered work culture.
  • Serves as a resident company Subject Matter Expert, providing advice and guidance on laboratory systems issues
  • Ensure round the clock analytical capabilities required on all process & ad-hoc samples.
  • Advise and propose to help optimize laboratory systems
  • Ensure readiness for internal & external audits
  • Collaborate with sister site for cross site audits
  • Establish training protocols for laboratory technicians and senior technicians
  • Own Laboratory Quality Control practices to ensure measurement and analyses meet standards
  • Standardize analytical workflows by collaborating with Senior Lab Technicians and shift Technician on rigorous documentation to achieve reliability and analytical capability at 100%
  • Upskill team members through by leading scheduled, role specific training sessions
  • Develop and implement a corrective action plan to address gaps in analytical capabilities, and resources
  • Ensure availability of critical equipment & critical inventory and peak performance
  • Confirm resource availability to effectively plan and align with forecasts
  • Implement a maintenance and calibration program to ensure all analysis equipment are in top condition
  • Own and manage critical equipment and inventory to ensure continuous operations

Qualifications:

  • Education and Certifications: Bachelor of Science Degree (STEM field).
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience working in a hydrocarbon laboratory
  • Oil and Gas experience is required, with preference in LNG applications, however, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable.
  • Extensive knowledge of sampling and laboratory equipment is required, including troubleshooting, and optimization measures
  • Analytical skills in quality testing using gas chromatographs especially, ion chromatography, and calorimetric methods
  • Mechanically inclined to troubleshoot common problems that may occur in an industrial laboratory setting including locating gas leaks, sampling issues, repairing damaged equipment, diagnosing exhaust issues and ensuring waste profile compliance
  • Exceptional communication skills with various audience, with a required ability to translate technical data to different audiences from various disciplines, industries, or government agencies
  • Exceptional ability to lead and motivate a team of various individuals with variable skillset to perform at the highest possible metric
  • Knowledge of CMMS Systems
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
