Why does the job exist?

Responsible for managing all administrative and fiscal aspects of both the Reentry Division and the Training Academy. This position will oversee all procurement, fiscal property management, professional service contract drafting and execution, monitoring budget using SHARE reports and maintaining spreadsheet to track all expenditures. Maintains daily contact with both Reentry and Training Academy Directors to ensure oversight of expenditures within each division and future budget projections. Also responsible for monthly Federal Grant reconciliation and travel processes and funding for Reentry and the Academy Divisions. Supervises 3 employees which includes professional development, mentoring, evaluations, and daily supervision.

How does it get done?

  • Process requisitions, purchase orders, payment vouchers, travel requests and travel reimbursements
  • Update and maintain budget projections to include presenting current fiscal position to Division management on a monthly basis
  • Route and track all personnel transactions
  • Program point of contact with the State Personnel Office (SPO)
  • Drafting and execution of Professional Service Contracts
  • Supervise employees including training, evaluations, disciplines, etc.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Auditing, and one (1) year of experience in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or Auditing. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience. A hiring agency may designate a portion of the required experience to include federal grant and/or special revenue experience, to be identified at the time of recruitment.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Pre-employment background check is required and conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
