Årdal Carbon, located in Årdal and situated next to Jotunheimen National Park, produces 215 000 mt of prebaked anodes yearly for the electrolysis. The anodes are supplied to Årdal, Sunndal and Karmøy electrolysis. The process is highly automated with room for continuous improvement for more sustainable, safer and efficient production.
What we offer you
As an intern in Hydro at Årdal Carbon, you will be a part of a join program with all the summer interns across the different Norwegian locations. You will get to apply knowledge from your field of study while learning about both aluminium and anode production. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will get hands on experience by taking on relevant tasks and real challenges in production and industry.
A summer at Årdal Carbon is a chance to develop practical skills and learn about industry and anode production, all while being surrounded by stunning nature and a have fun experience during the summer.
What you will be doing
- Work with various software for data handling and analytics, and handle challenges with real data/results and interact with ongoing production
- Work close to anode production and get an in-depth look into the process
- Analysis of production parameters, environmental aspects and emissions
- Assist in maintenance aspects of production and preventive maintenance
- Automation and optimization of available production equipment
What will make you successful?
- Ongoing master’s in engineering, IT, Environmental studies, Cybernetics, Chemistry, Process Engineering or a related field
- Able to work independently while being able to communicate and ask for help
- Motivated to learn and experience industrial processes, and to work with people as well as process
- Experience with Python, SQL or similar languages
