Substance Use Counselor/Counselor Intern

About This Role

This role involves assisting patients through medically assisted treatments and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction. The counselor conducts individual and group sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies, evaluating patient progress and collaborating with medical staff to achieve overall patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients through medically assisted treatments and offer techniques for handling opioid addiction
• Conduct individual and group sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies
• Evaluate patients’ progress during counseling and collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other counselors to assist patients in achieving overall outcomes
• Provide individual and group counseling services; direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals; coordinate all services throughout treatment
• Facilitate, establish, and review with each patient the initial treatment plan
• Complete Bio-psychosocial assessments
• Develop aftercare plans and discharge plans
• Ensure efficient and effective delivery of counseling services to all patients in a trauma-informed manner
• Perform other related duties as determined by supervisor

Requirements

• Must possess an LCDC in the state of Texas
• Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is preferred
• Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population
• Understanding of an EMR system (electronic medical records)
• Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check
