Duties
At the developmental level, the incumbent serves in a developmental position with over sight while they gain knowledge and experience leading to more complex work at the full performance level.
- Serves in the capacity of developmental Environmental Protection Specialist, assisting higher-graded specialists or others working with various Federal, tribal, state, local agencies, and private organizations to solicit information for environmental compliance activities.
- Assists in the preparation of individual environmental impact statements, assessments, and other documents for various Bureau projects and features assigned to the organization. Writes categorical exclusions for actions in the region or area offices.
- In the capacity of a developmental specialist, assists higher graded specialists in providing quality assurance/quality control reviews of work performed by others to ensure that technical requirements and specifications are met for continuing assignments and special projects, and established priorities, schedules, and deadlines are met.
- Conducts field reviews and site visits as necessary to investigate and verify site conditions.
- Writes reports documenting findings on environmental issues.
Qualifications
Education/Experience Requirements: Must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment with an accredited college or university at least part-time, seeking a degree, and in good academic standing (as defined by the school).
GS-04: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an Associate's Degree (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours).
A period of student trainee work experience is equal to 320 hours of work experience, if applicable.
