Job Description Laboratory Aide 1
The Laboratory Aide 1 will support the department/organization in various administrative and research tasks. The Laboratory Aide 1 works within a laboratory and assists with the department’s tasks.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining, cleaning, and storing lab equipment
- Preparing solutions and samples for research purposes
- Assisting with safety paperwork
- Cleaning the laboratory
- Receiving packages
- Processing lab findings and data entry
- Compiling instrument usage records
- Interacting with researchers, test subjects, and/or patients
- Assisting with administrative day-to-day tasks
Qualifications
- Active enrollment as a student at Tulane University
- A Federal Work Study Award (potentially)
- Prior or active enrollment in a particular class or course of study (potentially)
About Us This position will help student employees demonstrate and cultivate the career readiness competencies in accordance with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).
We are seeking a first- or second-year student with an interest or background in science to assist with undergraduate teaching laboratories in the Cell and Molecular Biology Department.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing and setting up materials for laboratory classes, cleaning and maintaining laboratory materials and equipment, washing glassware, stocking laboratory supplies, computer data entry and record maintenance, and assisting laboratory staff as needed.
The ideal candidate will be reliable, highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks. No prior laboratory experience is required; we will provide training in all skills needed for the position.
Preferred availability is Monday, Tuesday, Friday mornings, and/or Thursday afternoons.
