About the role
Overview The undergraduate student will assist the College of Forestry & Wildlife Environment property managers with projects on Auburn University land in the Lee County area.
Responsibilities
- Cruise timber and collect forest inventory data.
- Mark boundary lines and assist with field data collection.
- Enter and manage field and project data.
- Support forest road maintenance and weed control efforts.
- Assist with prescribed fire operations.
- Participate in invasive species management activities.
- Help maintain AU forest lands and general property upkeep.
- Travel to properties such as MOT and Crooked Oaks to help host events and tours.
- Clean and organize facilities including the MOT pavilion, forestry tool shed, and forest products storage shed.
Qualifications
- Enrolled student at Auburn University.
- Ability to work independently
- Tree ID knowledge
- Knowledge of operating farm equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, bush-hogs, drip torches
- knowledge of timber cruising
