About the role

We're looking for engineers with experience in:

  • Structural analysis (static & dynamic)
  • FEMAP, Nastran, Patran, or similar FEA tools
  • Steel & aluminum structures
  • Weld and bolted joint analysis
  • Shock and vibration environments
  • Substantiation report development

Duties:

As a Structural Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to design, evaluate, and certify our cutting edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems to highly integrated ground vehicles and test platforms. You'll examine complex metallic (steel and aluminum) structures, including both welded and bolted connections, and sometimes composite and AM (Additive Manufacturing) structures and systems.

Your technical duties involve the structural analysis and development of new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle from leading the analysis of structural components, reviewing the design, collaborating with cross-functional teams, integrating structural designs into overall systems, to overseeing the development and execution of structural tests.

Requirements: walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps. Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity. Rarely lifting or carrying up to 25 lbs.

Working Conditions: Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.) Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials. Rarely exposed to loud noises.

Skills Must-haves: Advanced understanding of structural analysis and design principles and practices. Experience with static and dynamic analyses using industry standard hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools such as FEMAP, MSC Patran and Nastran. Experience analyzing steel and aluminum structure, bolted joints, and welds. Experience analyzing components exposed to vehicle shock and vibration. Ability to author substantiation reports. Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams. Exposure to requirements and loads development.

Skills Preferred: Background in the Defense, Automotive, Maritime, or Heavy Equipment Industry. Familiarity with AWS, AISC, ASTM, ABS, and DoD design guidelines and regulations. Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing and production processes. Experience analyzing structure in harsh dynamic and thermal environments. Experience analyzing components exposed to rocket plume loads. Experience in Engineering Simulation using Finite Element analysis (FEA) tool FEMAP. Experience with vehicle dynamics (handling, suspension, structural loads).

A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil Engineering, or a related field and 6+ years of relevant experience are preferred.
