About This Role
This role is for an experienced Strategic Sourcing Specialist to support sourcing activity across a technically complex manufacturing operation within an established international engineering and manufacturing business. It is a hands-on strategic procurement position covering supplier selection, cost reduction, category sourcing, supplier performance, and supply risk across a broad range of industrial commodities.
Responsibilities
- Lead sourcing activity across key manufacturing commodities
- Identify, assess and select suppliers
- Support supplier negotiations, cost reviews and sourcing decisions
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies with internal stakeholders
- Build costing models and carry out benchmarking to improve cost competitiveness
- Deliver cost-reduction and value-engineering initiatives
- Manage supplier performance and support improvement plans
- Identify supply risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Support new product development through supplier evaluation and capability assessment
- Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Proposal and Category teams
- Maintain supplier documentation, due diligence and sourcing governance
- Use ERP and supply chain data to support sourcing and commercial decisions
Requirements
- Proven procurement or category management experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Experience managing sourcing activity, including supplier selection, evaluation and performance
- Exposure to global or international supply chains
- Experience developing sourcing strategies and cost-reduction initiatives
- Strong commercial experience using cost modelling, benchmarking and supplier negotiation
- Good understanding of supplier risk and performance management
- Experience using ERP systems within a manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical skills and confidence working with supply chain data
- Ability to work across Engineering, Operations, Procurement and other internal teams
- Experience sourcing commodities such as raw metal alloys, steel fabrications, instrumentation and controls, pumps, valves or third-party manufacturing would be particularly relevant
