About This Role

This role involves strategic purchasing, focusing on market observation, supplier management, and negotiation for forged parts and metal components. The position is well-suited for a professional with a background in procurement and a strong understanding of metal processing.

Responsibilities

• Obtain offers and monitor the market: benchmark procurement markets specifically for forged parts and metal components regarding prices, suppliers, developments, new providers, and technologies
• Create analyses and derive purchasing strategies for the area of responsibility
• Build and manage new suppliers
• Independently place orders within the authority levels or conduct final negotiations and prepare for signature for orders above own signing authority
• Conduct project-related purchasing negotiations as specified
• Verify the plausibility of parts requirements, clarify causes of significant deviations, and create orders in SAP
• Monitor delivery dates, process complaints, clarify quality and quantity differences (if necessary, involving TQM)
• Conduct price adjustments for significant quantity changes
• Claim Management: negotiate and process quality costs caused by suppliers
• Perform disposition activities as needed (possibly with inventory responsibility)
• Participate in implementing the strategic alignment of the Category at BA-E or MD1 level
• Collaborate on cross-departmental system and process improvements
• Prepare and evaluate data, independently create presentations, and document work results

Requirements

• Completed degree (e.g., in Business Administration or Industrial Engineering) or alternatively, completed training as an industrial clerk, preferably with further education
• More than 3 years of sound professional experience in purchasing / materials management, ideally in the procurement of forged parts or in a metal processing environment
• Basic technical understanding of metal processing and manufacturing methods is an advantage
• Good knowledge of SAP R3 and Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Fluent German and good English skills (B2) in spoken and written word
