Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper sterilization, decontamination, and handling of medical instruments and equipment used in patient care. Responsibilities
- Perform decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, and reprocessing of surgical instruments, endoscopes, and other medical equipment following strict aseptic techniques.
- Assemble, inspect, package, and label sterile instruments and supplies in accordance with hospital protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
- Manage inventory levels of sterile supplies and medical instruments, ensuring adequate stock while minimizing waste through accurate tracking.
- Conduct routine quality checks on sterilized equipment to verify proper functioning and sterilization efficacy.
- Maintain detailed documentation of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking logs, and inventory records to ensure compliance with infection prevention standards.
- Follow infection prevention management protocols by adhering to healthcare infection control policies and safety procedures.
- Assist with endoscope reprocessing procedures, ensuring all devices are properly cleaned, disinfected, and stored according to manufacturer specifications.
Requirements
- Prior experience in sterile processing or medical instrument reprocessing within a healthcare setting is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy to understand the function and handling of various surgical instruments and medical devices.
- Proficiency in medical terminology related to surgical procedures, instrumentation, and infection control practices.
- Familiarity with medical equipment operation, sterilization methods (such as autoclaving), and infection prevention management techniques.
- Strong aseptic technique skills to prevent contamination during instrument handling and reprocessing activities.
- Ability to perform endoscope reprocessing accurately following established protocols.
- Excellent organizational skills for inventory management and documentation accuracy.
- Commitment to healthcare infection prevention and control standards with a focus on patient safety.
