Sterile Processing Technician

About This Role

This part-time day shift position in the Surgical Services Department is responsible for the cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments, as well as maintaining and organizing reprocessing areas. The role requires effective communication with surgical staff, patients, and physicians.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sterilize surgical instrumentation
• Maintain and organize reprocessing areas in the Surgery Department
• Manage supplies, equipment, and instruments required in reprocessing areas
• Communicate effectively with Registered Nurses, other surgical staff, patients, and physicians
• Maintain sterilization records
• Perform quality control testing
• Maintain and update manufacturer IFU's
• Respond to phone calls
• Assist and support all areas of the surgery department as needed
• Perform clerical duties as assigned by departmental director, including responding to phone calls and collecting departmental statistics

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of computerized spreadsheets, word processing, and data input
• Pass the CRCST and CER certification exams within 6 months of hire
• Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality work and be detail-oriented
• Excellent communication skills
• Very dependable
• Some flexibility with personal schedule

Nice to have:

• Technical college education/certification in a Sterile Processing Technician program
• Prior health care experience
• Previous experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs
