Statistician

About This Role

Devising and performing statistical analysis plans and communicating the methodologies and results to clients in the healthcare sector is the core of this role. The Statistician will work within a team providing statistical and analytical expertise, applying statistical knowledge and technical skills to improve patient outcomes. This position suits someone who enjoys problem-solving and developing innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

• Devise and perform statistical analysis plans
• Communicate methodologies and results to clients in the healthcare sector
• Provide statistical and analytical expertise across Costello Medical
• Perform data analysis within R, Excel, Stan, and BUGS software
• Communicate methodologies and results in both written and oral formats to drug and device manufacturers, doctors, and reimbursement agencies
• Work on statistical analyses across patient-level clinical trial data, observational study (real-world) data, and published aggregate data
• Utilise a range of techniques such as basic statistical analysis of individual patient data, regression analysis, survival analysis, and Bayesian network meta-analysis
• Work in project teams alongside colleagues from all specialities to ensure projects are completed to an exceptionally high standard, on time, and in line with client expectations
• Participate in client calls and face-to-face meetings with external stakeholders
• Work on several projects at one time, with results feeding into publications, value materials, health economic models, or health technology assessment submissions
• Research, test, and recommend new software or techniques that may suit specific projects

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree-level qualification in a scientific or mathematical discipline (minimum 2.1 or equivalent), with a focus on statistics and data analysis
• Proficiency in the R programming language, and the willingness and ability to rapidly develop programming skills
• Technical ability, coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills, to explain complex techniques and results to non-expert audiences
• Willingness to research, test, and recommend new software or techniques that may suit specific projects
• Strong accuracy and meticulous attention to detail, along with the ability to uphold exceptional customer service and quality of deliverables under multiple competing demands
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, coupled with the flexibility to respond to shifting deadlines
• Ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as collaboratively within project teams
• Excellent written English
